A developmental edit includes:
- Close reading of your pages
- Evaluation of fundamental issues
- Flagging of inconsistencies
- Evaluation of recurring technical issues (syntax, grammar, etc.); every instance is not marked, but instead patterns are flagged and material included in the editorial letter about how to revise these patterns
- Comments throughout your manuscript
- Editorial letter (typically 10+ pages) summarizing editor's findings and laying out next steps
- 60-minute coaching call to talk through the feedback and recommended next steps
Standard turnaround time for this service is 6-8 weeks.
Book a Developmental Edit"Going into the developmental editing process, I was nervous about some of the major changes I would have to make in my story. However, Katie helped me process through major roadblocks of my manuscript in her developmental edit that was easily understandable and actionable. With her feedback, I was able to see how my story and characters will improve and come to life in ways that exceeded my expectations. I’m so excited to see how my manuscript will improve based off Katie’s edits!"
