You're officially invited to join the

Sodality of Storytellers!

A supportive community for writers to connect, learn, and be their true, book-loving selves.

As creatives, we know how it feels to be misunderstood. Often writers are left struggling alone towards their dreams without the support they need from their community. Creative writing is already difficult enough. But the added burden of feeling like you don't know what you're doing, that no one believes in you, or that you are stuck and can't move forward can put an end to even the most hopeful writing career.

We created the Sodality of Storytellers as an answer to this problem.

We want incredible writers (like yourself) to be:

  • connected with other writers,
  • inspired to write, and
  • pushed to develop their craft.

Our goal is simple: we are here to help you hone your craft, get inspired about your story, and set you up for long-term success in your writing.

Being a member of the Sodality of Storytellers is completely free!

Members of the Sodality are called "Storytellers" and have access to the following things:

  • 2 weekly 1-hour Writing Sprints
  • 1 weekly 1-hour Group Coaching Call
  • Weekly accountability for setting and working toward your goals
  • A general chat thread to discuss all things writing
  • A thread dedicated to writing memes (we all could use a laugh!)
  • A dedicated space for sharing writing snippets for getting feedback from your fellow writers
  • Threads to ask for and share fiction reading recommendations and writing resource recommendations (ex: books, courses, etc.)
  • A dedicated space to post requests for critique partners, beta readers, and ARC readers

What is a sodality?

If a group of crows is called a "murder" and a group of penguins is called a "waddle," we believe that the group of storytellers in our community should be called a "sodality."

Why? Generally speaking, a sodality is a group of people working together towards a common goal. This community is an amazing group of writers all striving towards the common goals of:

  • honing their craft,
  • encouraging each other in their writing journeys, and
  • making solid progress toward their writing and publishing goals!

This is a space where you can expect accountability, friendships, and new writing opportunities. But don't just take our word for it!

“The Sodality has helped me so much as a writer. Having a safe place to work on my book with other writers has been a game changer! Having this writing community has been everything I was wanting and more!”

—A. L. Road, Fantasy Writer

"Thus far, this has been the healthiest most responsive community of writers I've found. It's been equal parts encouraging, convicting, and inspiring to see other authors' work and hear about their writing journeys. I've discovered that being a part of a community and having people you trust walking alongside you is of the utmost importance in writing, just as it is in life as a whole. I'm truly grateful to be a part of the Sodality!"

—Ryder Hamilton, Fantasy Writer

"I am frequently pleasantly surprised by how well everyone treats each other and by the quality of the feedback from the coaches and the other members."

—P. E. Robinson, Speculative Fiction Writer

More about the Sodality from writers like you:

"I've enjoyed the community of the Sodality, and getting some built-in readers for pieces of my work along the way. This community has helped me better learn how to organize and structure my novels, up-leveled my craft game, and given me consistent bits of feedback along the way that help me tighten my stories and learn from my mistakes in real time to improve for the next time!"

—Nola S., Historical Fiction Writer

"I know I’m supposed to be here in this group with these awesome writers and book coaches. We are all in this together being supportive and encouraging while cheering each other on and making writing less of a solitary experience. This group is helping me continue to learn a ton and make a lot more progress with my writing."

—Annette, Speculative Fiction Writer

''It was terrifying to share [my writing] at first, but everyone is really supportive so now I can’t wait to share. I also love the group coaching calls. It’s great to hear what others are struggling with and feel that sense of relief because you feel the same way. I feel like I’m doing it for me but also for others."

—Laura, Romance Writer

''It's great how many opportunities there are to write and brainstorm together. The consistency and frequency of meetings has helped my writing become much more consistent. There's really no downside!"

 —R. W., Contemporary Fiction Writer

About Our Coaches

We're Andrew and Katie Wall, the husband-and-wife team behind Craft Better Books.

Chances are you're already working with one of us! Here's an opportunity to learn a little bit more about who we are.

Katie is a writer, book coach, and lover of stories, words, and grammar (yes, really!). She has over a decade of experience working with writers and is certified through the Author Accelerator Book Coaching Program. She is known for her meticulous eye for revision and undying enthusiasm for brilliant plot twists.

Andrew is a book coach and World-Building Consultant. He loves reading, anime, Dungeons and Dragons, and nerding out with writers over their books. If you like piña coladas, getting caught in the rain, and developing complex fantasy worlds that transport readers to another dimension, you two will get along just fine.
